Health checks of puppies and kittens at home are both more reassuring for the young animals and safer in terms of infection and other risks.
For both Package 1 and Package 2, a basic fee + any extra mileage is added.
Payment for Package 2 is made at the first visit.
Puppies and kittens should be dewormed regularly (against roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm) from two weeks of age up to 12 weeks of age. The interval depends on the dewormer chosen. Ideally they should be dewormed 1–2 weeks before the primary vaccination for the best effect.
The bitch should be dewormed when the puppies are two weeks old, and after that as needed, e.g. if worms are visible or after a stool sample (sampling kits are available at pharmacies).
As a general rule for health checks of puppies and kittens at home, the mother must be present. This makes the young feel more secure and reduces the risk of handling smuggled animals.
Dogs
The bitch must be present at the puppy health check.
Puppies may leave the bitch at 8 weeks of age at the earliest.
Responsible breeders do not hand over puppies until the first primary vaccination, microchipping and a health check with certificate have been carried out by a vet.
Package 1 – Guldveterinären offers one visit at 8 weeks of age.
At the visit, the first primary vaccination and ID marking with mini microchipare carried out, together with a health check, and a health certificate is issued.
Puppy buyers must book their own vet visit for the second primary vaccination at 12–13 weeks of age. A booster then follows at 1 year of age.
In Sweden, it is a legal requirement that all dogs are ID-marked and registered in the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s dog register regardless of country of origin, purebred or mixed breed. Dogs can also be registered in SKK’s DjurID. However, this is a voluntary register and does not replace registration with the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
Via the contact form you can book a puppy litter health check.
Cats
The mother cat must be present at the kitten health check.
Kittens may leave their mother at 12 weeks of age at the earliest, preferably at 14 weeks.
