Guldveterinären vaccinates your dog/puppies against the viral diseases canine distemper (D), hepatitis (H), parvovirus (P) and kennel cough (Pi). Dogs over 3 months old travelling abroad must be vaccinated against rabies.
This service is only offered (at 10:00) if you live within 15 minutes’ travel of Vasastan. If I have a regular visit in your area in the afternoon, the service may be offered then. This time (around 14:30) requires good flexibility, however, as the earlier afternoon booking may change.
The vaccines used are:

Nobivac DHPPi – a combination vaccine containing live, attenuated strains of the viruses that cause all the diseases above. For cost reasons, some breeders choose to vaccinate only against parvovirus at 8 weeks of age before sale. However, early protection against all these diseases is desirable, so the recommendation is that all puppies are vaccinated at 8 and 12 weeks of age and at one year of age. After that, Nobivac DHPPi is given every three years, with Nobivac Pi in the years in between. Full protection, i.e. antibody formation, is reached 14–21 days after vaccination. In rare cases, a temporary allergic reaction, fever and nausea may occur.

Nobivac Pi – a live, attenuated strain of the virus that causes kennel cough. The vaccine is given annually to dogs that meet many other dogs in their daily life, spend time where many dogs gather, go to doggy daycare, or stay at boarding kennels or attend shows. Full protection, i.e. antibody formation, is reached 28 days after vaccination. In rare cases, a temporary allergic reaction, fever and nausea may occur.

Nobivac Rabies – an inactivated strain of the virus that causes rabies. The vaccine is given every 3 years after a primary vaccination. The dog must be over 3 months old and have a legible tattoo (documented as done before 3 July 2011) or be microchipped before the primary vaccination is given. After the primary vaccination it takes 21–28 days to reach maximum protection, which is why by law at least 21 days must pass before the dog can travel abroad. The vaccination must be entered in an EU pet passport to be valid. Possible side effects include local reactions or a temporary, palpable lump at the injection site. In rare cases, a temporary allergic reaction, fever and nausea may occur.
More about each disease and its vaccine:
Vaccination against Canine distemper (D)
The vaccine Nobivac DHPPi contains live, attenuated canine distemper virus (CDV).
Vaccination should be given every three years to all dogs.
More information about canine distemper is available from the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA).
Vaccination against Hepatitis (H)
Hepatitis is also known as Hepatitis Contagiosa Canis (HCC), infectious canine hepatitis or contagious liver disease.
The vaccine Nobivac DHPPi contains live, attenuated canine adenovirus (CAV-2). This strain also gives protection against some of the agents involved in kennel cough.
The disease is uncommon in Swedish dogs thanks to widespread vaccination. Correctly vaccinated dogs are immune and do not fall ill.
Vaccination should be given every three years to all dogs.
More information about the disease is available from the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA).
Vaccination against Parvovirus (P)
Parvovirus is a highly contagious and deadly disease, especially for puppies of unvaccinated bitches.
The vaccine Nobivac DHPPi contains live, attenuated canine parvovirus (CPV).
The disease is uncommon in Swedish dogs thanks to widespread vaccination. Correctly vaccinated dogs are immune and do not fall ill.
Vaccination should be given every three years to all dogs.
More information about parvovirus is available from the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA).
Vaccination against Kennel cough (Pi)
Kennel cough is a collective name for respiratory infections involving several agents (viruses/bacteria); the Pi stands for parainfluenza, one of the main causes.
The vaccine Nobivac DHPPi and Nobivac Pi contains live, attenuated canine parainfluenza virus (CPi).
Vaccination does not give 100% protection but greatly reduces symptoms. Having had the disease does not give immunity, which is why annual revaccination is recommended.
Vaccination should be given annually to socially active dogs.
More information about kennel cough is available from the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA).
Vaccination against Rabies
Rabies is a fatal disease that spreads between species and is caused by a lyssavirus.
The vaccine Nobivac Rabies contains an inactivated rabies virus strain (Pasteur RIV).
Rabies has not been seen in domestic animals in Sweden since 1886. Vaccination gives good protection.
Vaccination should be given every three years to dogs that travel.
More information about rabies is available from the Swedish Veterinary Agency (SVA).
